Obermayer Announces Leadership Transition in Tax Practice

October 01, 2025

Obermayer is pleased to announce a planned leadership transition within its Tax Practice Group. After over four decades of distinguished service as Chair, Warren W. Ayres is stepping down from his leadership role and will serve as Chair Emeritus. He will be succeeded by Jared C. Slipman, effective October 1, 2025.

This change is part of a deliberate succession plan designed to ensure a seamless, client-centric transition in leadership. As Chair Emeritus, Warren will continue to play an active role in the practice, advising clients and mentoring attorneys, while Jared takes on the role of Chair to guide the group’s continued growth and innovation.

Warren has built his career on handling sophisticated federal, state, and international tax matters, including planning, controversy, and compliance. His depth of experience has shaped Obermayer’s Tax Practice into a trusted resource for businesses, individuals, and institutions navigating complex tax issues.

Reflecting on the transition, Warren said: “It has been a privilege to lead Obermayer’s Tax Practice and to work alongside such talented colleagues. I look forward to supporting Jared in his new role and continuing to serve our clients in my capacity as Chair Emeritus.”

Jared, who has been recognized as a rising star in tax law, focuses his practice on tax planning, business transactions, and advising closely held companies and high-net-worth individuals. His work spans mergers and acquisitions, partnership and corporate taxation, and federal and state tax controversy. With his energy, strategic vision, and dedication to client service, Jared is well-positioned to carry forward and expand the group’s capabilities.

“I am honored to follow in Warren’s footsteps and build on the strong foundation he has established,” Jared said. “Our clients rely on us for clear, practical guidance on complex tax matters, and I am excited to lead our group in continuing that tradition while growing to meet future challenges.”

“Warren’s leadership has been instrumental in building a practice that delivers sophisticated tax advice with the highest level of client service,” said Obermayer Chair David Nasatir“Jared is exceptionally well-prepared to continue that legacy, and this transition reflects our commitment to both continuity and progress in meeting client needs.”
