Stephanie Henrick Leads Initiative to Address Homelessness in Pottstown

April 24, 2025

Stephanie Henrick, Obermayer Trusts & Estates partner and Mayor of Pottstown, has led a transformative initiative to combat homelessness in the Borough of Pottstown and Montgomery County.

As part of her leadership, Stephanie formed a Mayor’s Advisory Council on Homelessness and developed a comprehensive plan to respond to the growing crisis in the region.

At the time, more than 150 people were living unsheltered in the Borough, many in an area known as “tent city” on Norfolk Southern Railroad property. With help from the railroad’s government relations team, they were all safely relocated to the Days Inn hotel.

Despite challenges like zoning laws, funding issues, and community opposition, Stephanie worked with the Borough Council to approve the hotel as temporary transitional housing with support services. The County has now taken over funding and running the facility.

Plans are also underway for a permanent shelter, expected to open in 2026 or 2027.

Stephanie focuses her practice on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Tax Law, and Guardianships. She has extensive experience in Estate Planning, preparing Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Healthcare Powers of Attorney, as well as representing alleged incapacitated individuals. Stephanie has a Master’s Degree in Tax Law with a Certificate in Estate Planning from Villanova.
