Michael Bertin Presented on Equitable Distribution in Divorce

Michael Bertin, Co-Chair of Obermayer’s family law department, presented at PBI‘s family law seminar on Friday, June 2, 2023. Michael’s panel, titled “Equitable Distribution in Divorce,” focused on the complex fact patterns that arise in numerous divorce cases. The CLE discussion included:

  • Most persuasive factors
  • How to size up the case and narrow the issues
  • Preferred litigation strategies
  • Divorce Hearing Officers’ Expectations for Lawyers

Michael is a former Chair of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Philadelphia Bar Association. He was selected as the 2021 Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in the Philadelphia region by the Best Lawyers in America and has published over one hundred articles. Bertin co-authored the book on Pennsylvania child custody law “Pennsylvania Child Custody Law, Practice, and Procedure”, used by judges and lawyers across the state as a reference. Bertin is the Vice President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and is the current Co-Chair of the Custody Committee of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Bertin has an active statewide family law practice and handles all phases of the negotiation and litigation of domestic relations cases, including divorce, custody, support, alimony, property distribution, prenuptial agreements, and related issues. Bertin also serves as chair of Obermayer’s Pro Bono Committee.
