Gary Samms Obtains a Unanimous Defense Verdict on Behalf of an Interventional Radiologist

On October 31, 2022, after six days of trial before the Honorable Richard Hughes, Gary Samms obtained a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of an interventional radiologist in Luzerne County. The allegations against the interventional radiologist were he failed to perform thrombolysis on a 25-year-old with an occluded superficial femoral artery and his failure to do so resulted in the need for the thrombectomy which caused distal embolization leading to an above-the-knee amputation of the right leg of the plaintiff.  The jury awarded a verdict of $26 million against the surgeon. The Obermayer team was able to obtain a full defense verdict for their client in this high-stakes litigation. Raymond Petruccelli and Nancy Farnen were essential to the victory.
