Paul is a highly regarded, Philadelphia-based attorney with decades of experience in all areas of estate planning, including the successful settlement of over 600 estates and selection for “The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White)” since 1989. Individuals and corporate entities turn to him for estate and trust administration, Orphans’ Court litigation, fiduciary and tax law concerns, and other complex estate planning issues.

Paul is patient, easy-going, and a good listener. He is happy to take the time to get to know his clients and their families. Paul genuinely enjoys helping people and the variety of tasks, skills, and experience that he is expected and able to use to achieve success. In fact, his favorite quote is, “Enjoy what you do and do it well.”

In his free time, Paul’s favorite avocation is flying airplanes, something that he has been doing for over 60 years. He also enjoys biking, swimming, sailing and walking. When it comes to less strenuous activities, Paul enjoys reading American history while sitting on a deck or porch with a good view of the mountains or the ocean and is something of a newspaper junkie, reading two daily and two weekly papers.

Paul’s practice focuses on estate planning, primarily preparing Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Healthcare Powers of Attorney. His extensive experience in estate planning allows Paul to effectively and efficiently oversee the administration of estates and trusts and, when necessary, to represent is clients’ interests in fiduciary litigation.

Paul also has extensive experience in nonprofit law, advising and representing several not-for-profit corporations, including a number of well-known charities in the Philadelphia area. In addition, he has experience in aviation law, including aircraft accident litigation, FAA enforcement matters, aircraft lease, partnership and sales agreements, and the representation of airport owners.

Paul has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s Super Lawyers® by Philadelphia magazine (2004-2023) and Thomson Reuters, Legal magazine (2004–2022). He is also rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell. He was also included in the 2021 to 2024 Editions of The Best Lawyers in America©.

Paul is the recipient of the “Distinguished Estate Planner Award” by the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He is a former author of Remick’s Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court Practice, a former member of the Board of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He has served on ACTEC’s national Board of Regents and as ACTEC’s Pennsylvania State Chair.

Paul is a member and former chairman of the 600-member Probate and Trust Law section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He frequently lectures on estate planning, estate and trust administration and professional ethics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.

Paul has served on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association (1989-91 and 1993-94), the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Bar Education Center (1990-94) and the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation (1993-94). He has also served on the boards of the Lower Merion Board of School Directors, The Franklin Institute, National Constitution Center, and The Philadelphia Foundation and has been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 50 years.

Paul served as chairman of the Aviation Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (1975-80) and as a member of its House of Delegates (1980-90). The aviation activities of Mr. Heintz, a licensed airline transport pilot and instrument flight instructor with over 4000 flying hours, include service as chairman of the boards of the 400,000 member Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Air Safety Foundation, and as a member of the Lawyers-Pilots Bar Association.
