Terry Mutchler Named 2025 Advocate of the Year by Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association

Terry Mutchler, chair of Obermayer’s Transparency and Public Data Practice, was named the 2025 Advocate of the Year by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA). This prestigious honor recognizes her exceptional leadership and longstanding advocacy on behalf of Pennsylvania’s news media industry, as well as her unwavering commitment to government transparency.

Terry represents a wide range of clients, including corporations and media organizations, helping them navigate public records laws to both protect sensitive information and access critical data. She also assists journalists in obtaining public records and advises organizations on compliance with transparency laws. A nationally recognized leader in transparency law, Mutchler is a former journalist and the first executive director of Pennsylvania’s Office of Open Records. She has delivered more than 1,500 presentations on transparency issues, writes a regular column for The Legal Intelligencer, and is the author of the award-winning memoir Under This Beautiful Dome.
