Michael is an attorney in Obermayer’s Business & Finance Department. He concentrates his practice on commercial and retail real estate leasing, representing both landlords and tenants in transactions from negotiation through closing. He also advises clients on franchise law and a broad range of business transactions, including preparing and negotiating partnership, operating, and asset purchase agreements.
In addition to structuring and negotiating deals, Michael helps clients develop growth strategies, evaluate the infrastructure needed to support expansion, build internal consensus, and manage implementation.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. As a family, they love traveling and taking advantage of Philadelphia’s cultural, sports, and dining experiences, as well as spending time at the Jersey Shore. He is also an avid skier and golfer.
Michael played a key role in David’s Bridal’s real estate expansion. When he joined, the company operated approximately 13 stores; by the time he departed, it had grown into a 330-store international chain.
Over the course of his career, Michael has represented franchisees of approximately 35 nationally recognized brands and negotiated more than 1,000 commercial leases with international, national, regional, and local landlords and developers across all 50 states, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. He is known for his ability to advance clients’ business objectives while delivering practical, strategic legal counsel.
