Alex is a member of Obermayer’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Department. He represents businesses, financial institutions, creditors, trustees, and other clients in bankruptcy, insolvency, business reorganization, and commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts and in arbitrations before the AAA, JAMS, and the ICC.

Alex approaches every matter as a problem solver, developing practical, strategic solutions aligned with clients’ goals, helping them navigate complex legal issues and emerge in a stronger position.

Outside the office, Alex enjoys challenging both his mind and body. An avid reader, he has a particular interest in literature, history, sociology, criminology, and the life sciences. He also enjoys hiking, staying active, and playing basketball and soccer. A passionate animal lover, Alex has two adopted rescue dogs. He enjoys attending live music performances and playing the guitar.

Alex has extensive experience representing clients in bankruptcy, business reorganizations, and commercial litigation, including representing a major financial institution in successfully defending against a high-profile avoidance action arising from the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities bankruptcy, serving as special conflicts trustee counsel in the Sears Holdings bankruptcy, obtaining approval of claims on behalf of families of victims in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy, and representing executives in disputes involving wages and benefits in bankruptcy proceedings.

Alex has also represented clients pursuing complex civil RICO claims while counseling them on related bankruptcy issues. His work includes collaborating with the New York Attorney General in a New York State action that resulted in an injunction against an unlawful money-lending operation, as well as securing multiple summary judgment victories and appellate affirmances in federal RICO litigation involving claims exceeding $10MM before treble damages.
