Mikell Washington Named 2025–2027 RPTE Fellow by the American Bar Association
Mikell Washington, an attorney in Obermayer’s Business & Finance Department, was selected as a 2025–2027 Fellow of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section (RPTE) through its Young Lawyers Network Fellowship Program.
Each year, the RPTE Section selects 10 young lawyers nationwide for this prestigious two-year fellowship.
The program is designed to provide early-career attorneys with substantive experience, mentorship, and leadership development within the Section. Fellows are paired with a Committee Chair mentor, participate in Section leadership meetings, and engage in meaningful committee work.
As a Fellow, Mikell will contribute to projects such as writing for RPTE publications, speaking at events, and serving as a liaison to the ABA Young Lawyers Division or local bar associations. Fellows are also active members of the Membership Committee, playing a key role in supporting and advancing the work of the Section.
Mikell advises owners and investors on the purchase, sale, and lease of commercial and residential real estate. He manages transactions from start to finish, including drafting purchase agreements, lease and joint venture documents, corporate resolutions, and other ancillary contracts.
In addition to his real estate work, Mikell has experience representing Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, and trust companies in complex structured finance transactions, such as securitizations, debt restructurings, and warehouse facilities involving a range of asset classes, including CMBS loans, residential mortgages, credit card receivables, and auto loans.
