Hillary Moonay and Julie Colton Appointed to Domestic Relations Law Advisory Committee

Obermayer family law partners Hillary Moonay and Julie Colton were appointed to the Domestic Relations Law Advisory Committee of the Joint State Government Commission, the bipartisan research agency of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Their participation on this advisory committee positions them to play a key role in shaping revisions to domestic relations laws and practices, bringing their extensive family law experience to support thoughtful and effective policy-making.

Hillary serves as co-chair of the Family Law Department and managing partner of the Bucks County office. She brings extensive experience in family law, handling all aspects of domestic relations cases, including divorce, custody, support, alimony, equitable distribution, and prenuptial agreements. A skilled litigator, she is also trained in alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, and collaborative law. Hillary is an active leader in professional organizations, serving as Co-Chair of the Bucks County Bar Association Family Law Section, on the Board of Managers for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and on the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates and Bucks County Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. She was recently appointed to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Domestic Relations Procedural Rules Committee. Hillary has authored numerous articles in The Legal Intelligencer, contributed to Slicing Up the Pie: Property Distribution in Pennsylvania, and frequently lectures on family law topics. Hillary recently secured a landmark Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision in Caldwell v. Jaurigue, establishing a bright-line rule for third-party child support matters. 

Julie is a Pittsburgh family law attorney who handles divorce, custody, support, asset division, international custody, and prenuptial agreements, with experience in mediation and collaborative law. She teaches family law as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Julie chairs the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, serves on its Court Relations and Guidelines Committees, and is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. She is also Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section and a member of its Section Council. A published author and speaker, Julie volunteers with the Neighborhood Legal Services Association, providing pro bono support in PFA and custody cases. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and co-chairs its Domestic Violence Taskforce.
