Court Re-openings in Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. but services are limited. All employees and public entering the building are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. More details relating to safety precautions can be obtain on the county website at JD 38 Safety Protocol.

The Prothonotary’s Norristown Office will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. but operating with minimal staff to process emergency filings, which include Protection from Abuse.  Litigants who want to file Temporary Protection from Abuse Petitions should arrive no later than 12 p.m. to ensure they will be heard before the Court that day. The final Protection from Abuse Hearings will be held on a subsequent date in the courthouse. 

Electronic filings and filings by mail are being accepted. A majority of the Montgomery County Family Division Proceedings are being conducted virtually or by telephone conference. The protocol for virtual court hearings can be found at here

The Domestic Relations Office at One Montgomery Plaza is closed to the public. To contact DRO you can send an email to CS-Montgomery@PACSES.com, send a fax to 610-239-9637 or call 610-278-3646 and leave a voicemail message.  All initial and modification support conferences are being conducted by phone.  Directions for the conferences can be found here. No support master’s hearings are being scheduled at this time.

The Custody and Equitable Distribution Office at 425 Swede Street is closed. Custody Conciliation Conferences are being held by phone. The Equitable Distribution Hearing Officers are conducting initial conferences, discovery arguments and settlement conferences with attorneys by telephone.
