Obermayer Supports Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association 2020 Regional Convention

February 08, 2020

Obermayer’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is proud to share its involvement in the Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association (“MABLSA”) and its 2020 Regional Convention in Philadelphia (February 5-9, 2020). Our Diversity and Inclusion Committee sponsored the Chair’s Welcome Reception held on February 6 and attended the Annual Legacy Gala on February 8. Ivo Becica and Lanique Roberts volunteered their time to serve as judges for the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition held during the Convention.

MABLSA is a regional affiliate of the National Black Law Students Association (“NBLSA”), a student-run, national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of Black law students. NBLSA was founded in 1968 to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact their communities. Obermayer’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee (D&I Committee) includes lawyers from across the firm’s departments, members of the hiring committee, and members of the senior management team. The committee develops and implements firm-wide initiatives to attract, retain, and advance the careers of our talented diverse lawyers. It nurtures an inclusive working environment, and ensures that our lawyers and staff have the opportunity, training, and mentorship to thrive personally and professionally. The D&I Committee is currently being co-chaired by Pauline Markey and Lanique Roberts.
