Julie Colton and Lanique Roberts ​to Participate in PBA’s Event “What Every Future Lawyer Needs to Know About Landing a Job in Family Law”

Julie Colton and Lanique Roberts will be participating in the Pennsylvanian Bar Association Family Law Section’s Virtual Panel Discussion and Q&A for law students, titled “What Every Future Lawyer Needs to Know About Landing a Job in Family Law.” This is an opportunity for all law students to hear about the practice of family law, network with practitioners from across Pennsylvania. Julie will be moderating the Q&A, and Lanique will speak at a panel, discussing the practice of family law.

Join Julie and Lanique on March 17, 2021, from 4 pm to 6 pm​ to learn the best tips and tricks to find and land your first job as a family lawyer.

Julie focuses her practice on family law matters including divorce, child custody, support, asset division, prenuptial agreements, and international custody. Julie also has experience in mediation and collaborative law. Julie’s practice approach is to provide clear, open communication with her clients regarding expectations and outcomes. She helps her clients sort out the legal aspects of a case from the emotions that are invariably involved so they are able to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. When necessary, Julie will fight on behalf of her clients to achieve the best possible legal outcome in court. 

Lanique is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Family Law Departments. As part of her Family Law practice, Lanique aids clients in the discovery and preparation of marital assets for equitable distribution in matrimonial matters. She also has experience drafting motions advocating on behalf of clients in matrimonial matters. Lanique co-chairs Obermayer’s Diversity & Inclusion committee. She also serves as a Philadelphia Bar Foundation Board Observer for the Anti-Defamation League. Lanique also serves on the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association (PAA) Equity and Social Justice Task Force, a task force that examines the PAA’s programs and policies through an equity and social justice lens in order to make recommendations on steps that should be taken to strengthen the PAA’s support and inclusion of all students, alumni, and staff. ​
