Lars concentrates his practice at Obermayer in the area of premises liability defense. He also has extensive experience in commercial motor vehicle and construction law matters.

Lars believes in thoroughly evaluating his client’s position in order to offer them a range of likely possibilities involved in their claim, defense, or issue based on the law and past experience. Once a strategy has been discussed and decided, Lars will then vigorously present his client’s arguments to achieve the best possible outcome.

Lars has a voracious appetite for learning, and being a lawyer allows him to study a broad range of fields, subjects, and businesses. All of this learned information is then brought to the table and used to his client’s advantage.

When Lars isn’t working, he enjoys traveling, cooking, spending time with his family at home or away, and tackling projects in and around his house and yard.

Prior to joining Obermayer, Lars was an associate with a Mid-Atlantic regional law firm in their Philadelphia office. He also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable John J. Rufe, in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Bucks County.

While in law school, Lars served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Vincent A.Cirillo, Senior Judge, Pennsylvania Superior Court. He also participated in Lawyering Together, a program providing legal assistance to indigent clients.

A few of Lars’ notable achievements include:

  • Obtaining a complete defense verdict in a bitter family business dispute where Plaintiffs and Intervenor sought approximately $89 million dollars in damages in litigation lasting over five years. He also won the client’s counter-claims for conversion and breach of contract resulting in an award in excess of $1.4 million dollars.
  • Advising large facilities maintenance companies on their subcontractor agreements in order to make the defense and indemnity provisions enforceable through a streamlined private arbitration proceeding. Adopting this process has allowed the clients to ensure the early acceptance of tender while obtaining reimbursement for their legal expenses. Utilizing private arbitration has allowed Lars to recover millions of dollars of legal fees for these clients. His clients have also been able to utilize the success in obtaining tender acceptances by their subcontractors to reconfigure their insurance needs thereby achieving millions of dollars in additional savings.

Lars has contributed to several industry, legal, and CLE publications. His most recent contribution includes: A “Primer” For Manufacturers: How to Mitigate Liability in the Context of Product Recalls, Canadian Transportation Equipment Association; Fall 2009.

Lars is active in his local civic association and is involved in pro bono legal work representing indigent clients through the Homeless Advocacy Project. In 2013 he received an award in recognition of his outstanding service to pro bono clients. He is also a volunteer involving E.D.Pa. Prisoner Civil Rights cases.
