Jay is an attorney in Obermayer’s Litigation Department, where he focuses his practice on civil and commercial litigation. He represents a diverse range of clients, including financial institutions, nonprofits, real estate developers, investors, and individuals, in matters involving insurance defense, premises liability, negligence, personal injury, products liability, professional liability, and contract disputes.
Jay is involved in every stage of the litigation process, from initial investigation through resolution or trial. He is committed to delivering high-quality legal services efficiently and thoroughly. Recognizing that litigation can be a stressful and often overwhelming experience, whether for a plaintiff or a defendant, Jay prioritizes clear communication, simplifies complex legal issues, and works to ease the burden on his clients throughout the process.
Outside the office, Jay leads an active lifestyle and enjoys spending time outdoors. His hobbies include rock climbing, playing soccer, hiking, gardening, and caring for his dogs, cats, and horses.
Jay has extensive experience in casualty defense litigation, including matters involving product liability, recreational injuries, retail and hospitality claims, construction injuries and defects, and motor vehicle accidents. He has handled all stages of litigation, from discovery and depositions to serving as first chair in bench trials and second chair in complex, multi-week injury trials.
Notably, Jay secured the dismissal of claims against a contractor client via summary judgment in a New Jersey tort action involving a novel application of Pennsylvania law.
Jay graduated from law school with honors, earning certificates in both Business Law and Trial Advocacy. He was awarded the Outstanding Trial Advocacy Award and completed his coursework one semester early while working full-time.
As an undergraduate, Jay majored in Political Science and was awarded the Frank Perella Faculty Scholar Award, recognizing the most promising History major. He was also inducted into Phi Alpha Theta (History Honor Society) and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society).
In addition to his academic achievements, Jay worked as an outdoor climbing guide, drawing on over 15 years of climbing experience.
