Kevin concentrates his diverse labor and employment practice on minimizing employment liability and avoiding third-party intervention. Kevin’s prior experience in representing a powerful union in an in-house capacity gives him an intimate understanding of the tactics that strong unions use to organize employers and enables him to understand the mistakes that employers make. He is especially motivated to assist corporate interests in engendering an engaged, loyal work force through best practices that also maximize profit. He partners closely with operational and HR leaders and by using verifiable metrics reduces turnover, employee grievances, outside litigation, and secures concessions from unions during collective bargaining. He also coaches executives on how to lead their team of managers in a way that reduces employment practices liability and third party intervention.

Kevin is a highly pragmatic lawyer, who approaches situations first and foremost as an attorney, but with an unusually deep understanding of the financial data that also need to be considered when making legal decisions.  Armed with his unique background as well as deep exposure to the economic, financial aspects of running an organization, Kevin serves as a trusted labor law advisor and true business partner in every facet of their organization.

In his free time Kevin enjoys fitness, weight lifting, and all things car related. He loves to travel, read about history, and relax near water – lakes or beaches. As Penn State alumni, he is an avid Penn State fan.

Kevin has demonstrated record of winning union avoidance campaigns and successfully defending outside litigation and administrative charges from agencies like the EEOC and NLRB.   Some of his most notable cases include:

  • Served as lead negotiator in collective bargaining sessions for over 50 contracts
  • Developed and implemented strategic relations with powerful labor organizations
  • Coaches executives to enhance positive outcomes for their organizations

Since 2012, Kevin has been on the board of Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations equivalent of an elected Board of Directors.  In addition to being a member of both the DC Bar Association and the DC SHRM chapter, he is a member of the American Bar Association’s L & E Law Section, Association of Corporate Counsel, SHRM, and Labor and Employee Relations Association, among other professional organizations. In 2002, he was a recipient of “Outstanding Graduating Senior in Labor & Industrial Relations” award.
