“As a family law attorney, I advocate for clients going through a difficult part of their life and help them navigate making complex decisions. My focus is to counsel the client and support them in making the best decision for themselves.”
Liz focuses her practice on all aspects of adoption and reproductive law matters in Southeast Pennsylvania and the Greater Philadelphia area. She represents clients in family building needs, consulting them on the legal process to review their options, such as between private or public adoption or pursuing assisted reproduction, and provide next steps and referrals to begin. For many adoption cases, Liz represents either adoptive parents or expectant parents in an interstate domestic adoption placement. She works on independent adoption placements or with clients on agency adoptions, and often counsels on Pennsylvania adoption law, choice of law options with other states, and open adoption contact agreements.
For reproductive law matters, Liz represents gestational carriers in their surrogacy journey by counseling them through signing their gestational carrier agreement and other legal needs such as their will and power of attorney documents. Liz also works on Known Donor Agreements for embryo, sperm, or egg donation and represents either the donor or intended parents.
Through this work, she often collaborates with other attorneys and helps clients navigate the court system, working with adoption or surrogacy agencies, fertility clinics, and other parties such as social workers, therapists, or hospital staff.
In her free time, Liz likes to spend time with her family and friends, and she is an auntie to a very sassy 6-year-old boy. Liz lives in Old City Philly and enjoys what the city has to offer. On weekends you can find Liz taking short trips, or in Philly trying new restaurants, playing tennis, Wissahickon hikes or attempting new recipes. Liz loves to travel and to experience new cultures, places, and people.
Since graduating law school, Liz has concentrated her career on adoption cases. She has specialized in interstate cases and completed termination of parental rights and finalization hearings. She has counseled adoptive parent and biological parent clients on the legal aspects of the adoption process and has extensive knowledge on the topic.
Liz has additional experience in legal needs for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), such as counseling gestational carriers on surrogacy agreements and drafting and negotiating embryo, sperm, or egg donor agreements.
For her pro bono work, representing foster care youth as a child advocate attorney in Philadelphia Family Court with the Support Center for Child Advocates, Liz was honored to be awarded the First Judicial District Pro Bono Publico Award for the Court of Common Pleas, Family Division – Juvenile in 2019.
Liz is involved with the Legal Clinic for the Disabled as the Board Secretary, and a member of the Helpusadopt.org Adoption Professionals Council and the young professionals’ group with Community Legal Services. Liz is also a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section.
