“I’m approachable, efficient and pragmatic.”
Colleen is a Philadelphia-based labor and employment attorney. After a period of working in-house, Colleen returned to Obermayer, where she now counsels employers on compliance matters involving federal and state laws governing the employment relationship. These include:
- Personnel policies;
- Wage and hour issues;
- Leaves of absence rights;
- Personnel actions;
- Protection of proprietary information;
- Sexual harassment and other workplace investigations; and
- Disability accommodations.
Colleen partners with clients to develop resolutions to employment-related issues that are both legally compliant and also allow the business to run efficiently and successfully. She regards herself as a sounding board, a legal compass for HR professionals and C-suite executives who need her help navigating the labyrinth of state, federal, and local employment laws.
In her spare time, she spends as much time outdoors as possible, whether running, hiking, playing soccer, swimming, doing yard work, or just reading on the back patio.
Colleen was a member of the Obermayer’s labor and employment practice from May 2010 to June 2014. During this period and since returning, she handled a broad variety of employment litigation and administrative proceedings, such as class actions, disability, sex, age, and race discrimination claims, defamation and wrongful discharge claims, non-compete matters, and various other employment-related matters. When not counseling clients on live matters, Colleen develops and presents training programs, including ones related to discrimination, harassment, managing leaves of absence, drug and alcohol testing, affirmative action programs, performance management, and conducting effective internal investigations.
Prior to rejoining Obermayer, Colleen spent over two years at Aramark, providing employment relations guidance to the company’s HR business partners, operators and executives across all lines of business throughout the U.S. Prior to that, she was senior counsel at a boutique labor and employment firm in New York. She has also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, and has clerked for the Chief Administrative Judge of Merit System Protection Board in Boston.
