Maria Panichelli Listed in The Legal Intelligencer’s 2019 Pennsylvania Trailblazers
For her thought leadership and unique practice, Obermayer Chair of the Government Contracting Department, Maria Panichelli was featured in The Legal Intelligencer’s 2019 Pennsylvania Trailblazers. This special supplement spotlights a handful of legal professionals that are truly agents of change. Maria is a trailblazer, who expanded Obermayer’s capabilities by developing a legal practice area that is rare in Philadelphia. As one of the relatively few attorneys practicing government contracts law in the Philadelphia market, Maria has helped to expand the types of services that are locally available to Philadelphia/South Jersey government contractors.
Companies that engage in federal contracting need specific types of legal representation. Practitioners of government contracting law are not generalist litigators; they have a highly detailed knowledge of federal procurement rules and regulations, and a commitment to staying current on regulatory changes and developments. Accordingly, the federal contracting bar is comparatively small, as government contracts law is a fairly unique and highly specialized focus. Maria focuses her practice exclusively on federal government contracts, counseling prime and subcontractors doing business with the federal government across the country and abroad. Among other things, Maria’s practice includes: bid protest litigation before the GAO; the preparation of REAs and CDA claims, claim dispute resolution and appeal litigation before the Boards of Contract Appeal, Court of Federal Claims, and Federal Circuit; performance and compliance counseling concerning the FAR and agency supplemental procurement regulations; and small business procurement counseling.
