Eric Rathburn Elected to Board of Haverford Education Foundation

Eric Rathburn has been elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Haverford Township School District Education Foundation. The Education Foundation is an independent, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to cultivate innovative learning opportunities that inspire and motivate Haverford Township students. The foundation works closely with the school district, faculty and students to provide extra-curricular activities and education opportunities outside the district’s core curriculum with privately-funded enrichment programs.

In 2009, the foundation raised substantially all of the funds through private donations for the construction of a state-of-the-art TV studio and station at Haverford High School. The construction of the studio has led to the design and creation by the school district of a new multi-media communications curriculum for the 21st century with a focus on writing across all media, including print, radio, television and internet.

In December, the foundation also pledged a $5,000 matching grant to help raise much-needed funds for capital improvements for the high school radio station, WHHS, which having been on the air for 60 years as of December 6, 2009, is the oldest high school radio station in the country.

The foundation's primary fundraiser is the Annual Haverford Education Foundation Twilight Run and Walk, to be held this year on April 24th, 2010. The foundation also raises funds through private donations and gifts, including United Way donations.

Mr. Rathburn is a partner and member of Obermayer's Business and Finance Department;Regulatory, Administrative and Gaming Department and the immediate past chairman of the firm’s Recruiting Committee, as well as its Website Committee.
