Ralph Ferrara and Michael Pepperman to attend The 24th Annual Construction SuperConference in San Francisco
November 20, 2009

Ralph P. Ferrara, Chairman of the Firm’s Construction Law Practice Group will attend The 24th Annual Construction SuperConference in San Francisco on December 9-11, 2009.  Partner, Michael S. Pepperman, will be a featured speaker at the SuperConference on December 11.

Pepperman’s topic, The Rules of the Game Are About to Change:  An Update on the Employee Free Choice Act (“EFCA”) and Other Pending Employment and Labor Legislation, will focus on the potential implications of labor and employment issues being considered by the new Congress.  With the election of President Obama and sizeable Democratic majorities in both Houses of Congress, the 111th Congress is considering some of the most significant changes to employment and labor law in decades.  If passed, EFCA will create sweeping changes to federal labor law and substantially affect the dynamic between employers, employees and unions. Other labor and employment law issues likely to be considered by the new Congress include the RESPECT Act (Re-Empowerment of Skilled and Professional Employees and Construction Tradesworkers), Paycheck Fairness Act, Fair Pay Restoration Act and the Working Families Flexibility Act.

The Construction SuperConference will bring to the forefront new insights on the legal, business, and economic challenges and opportunities in today’s construction industry.  The educational session will be led by a panel of experts from the most respected legal and consulting firms in the country.  The Construction SuperConference is produced by the Vendome Group in conjunction with the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Ferrara is Co-Managing Partner of Obermayer’s Cherry Hill, NJ office and a member of the firm’s Litigation Department.  Pepperman is a member of the firm's Labor Relations and Employment Law Department.
