Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -  January 23, 2012 -  Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP's Recruiting Committee is sponsoring the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association ("MABLSA") Regional Convention’s Frederic Douglas Moot Court Competition, one of the largest competitions in the country.


MABLSA will host its 44th Annual Regional Convention February 1–5, 2012 in Philadelphia, PA and the competition will take place Thursday, February 2nd through Saturday February 4th.  In addition to providing financial support, Obermayer will also provide judges for the competition.

MABLSA is comprised of 28 of the most prestigious law schools in the nation and encompasses over 1000 diverse and vibrant law students. In an effort to diversify the legal community, MABLSA promotes the educational and professional needs of diverse law students. Since its inception in 1975, the MABLSA Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition has been the cornerstone of MABLSA programming, offering high caliber competition to showcase oral advocacy and brief writing talents among law students nationwide.  The top three teams qualify to compete at the national level.
William J. Leonard is partner in Obermayer's Litigation Department.  He is Chair of the firm's Recruiting Committee and a member of the firm's Diversity and Marketing and Practice Development Committees.
