PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA—December 10, 2012— On December 7, 2012, Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP’s Gary M. Samms, along with Stephanie V. Shreibman and Jacqueline Sabol Roe successfully defended their client and obtained a defense verdict in the matter of Berdeci- Cortes v Rogers.  After a six day trial, a unanimous jury found in favor of the doctor. The plaintiff claimed lack of informed consent as well as inappropriate and improper surgery performed negligently. The case was tried before the Honorable Carolyn Tornetta Carluccio in the Montgomery Court of Common Pleas.

 Samms is a partner in Obermayer’s Litigation Department and chairs the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Group.  During his career, Samms has won over 140 major jury trials.  He has gained acclaim for his trial work and has been named three times to the lists as one of Pennsylvania's Top 100 Lawyers and one of Philadelphia's Top 100 Lawyers by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers®.  He has been selected for inclusion in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers in the past seven consecutive years, an honor bestowed upon only 5% of Pennsylvania lawyers.
