Obermayer's Gary M. Samms and Jacqueline Sabol Roe received a defense verdict in a medical malpractice action in the case of Piasecki v. University of Pennsylvania, et al. Mr. Samms and Ms. Roe defended a radiologist, where plaintiff’s allegation was that he failed to identify an aneurysm on an MRI/MRA study. The aneurysm eventually ruptured and left the plaintiff neurologically debilitated. The original demand in the case had been $2 million.

Samms is a partner in Obermayer’s Litigation Department and chairs the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Group. During his career, Samms has won over 140 major jury trials. He has gained acclaim for his trial work and has been named three times to the lists as one of Pennsylvania's Top 100 Lawyers and one of Philadelphia's Top 100 Lawyers by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers®. He has been selected for inclusion in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers in the past seven consecutive years, an honor bestowed upon only 5% of Pennsylvania lawyers.

Roe is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department where her practice in is concentrated in medical malpractice, tort and asbestos litigation and products liability.
