Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - April 9, 2012 - Several Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP attorneys recently served on the legal panel to the biotechnological community at The Pennsylvania Drug Discovery Institute's (PDDI) "A Legal Primer" round table forum. The forum, co-sponsored by the Regional Biotech Council, provided legal information to local scientists and biotechnology companies.
Dr. Joseph Aceto, member of the PDDI Board of Directors and Counsel at Obermayer hosted and moderated the Obermayer panel that included Dominic Liberi, Jason Reisman, and Stephen Ching. Topics included employment law, international trade, patent, commercial transactions, regulatory approval, and investment prospects.
Mr. Liberi discussed aspects of a good transactional agreement and selecting an appropriate entity for a new company; Mr. Ching presented an overview of international trade law and factors to consider when a company enters China, including investment opportunities in Asia and Mr. Reisman focused on labor relations and specific provisions in a well-crafted employment agreement, especially relevant for scientists in transition and employers developing their own work force.
