Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP partner J. Kurt Straub, together with Marie Brown Etris, RN, CWON, presented the Keynote Address at the American Professional Wound Care Association Annual Conference last week. Working from a case study based on case tried to verdict, Straub and Etris presented “Litigation, What You Need To Know To Practice Proactively,” to address the latest research in the diagnosis of Kennedy Terminal Ulcers, how to distinguish them from traditional pressure ulcers, and how to chart the diagnoses and communicate with the patient’s family to minimize the risk of litigation.

Straub has a thorough understanding of the complex legal issues that face the health care industry, physicians and institutional health care operations. He provides counsel to health care organizations, and has successfully defended hospitals, physicians and nurses through medical malpractice lawsuits and has also defended medical drug and device companies in products liability matters.
