Angela L. Baglanzis represents businesses in need of restructuring, reorganization, and liquidation.  Representations include Chapter 11 debtors-in-possession, Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 trustees, creditors’ committees, disbursing agents, unsecured creditors, secured creditors, and plaintiffs and defendants in avoidance actions. 

Ms. Baglanzis serves a wide variety of industries, including retail, bars/restaurants, construction and real estate.  She works closely with clients to achieve their goals and optimize the benefits and protections under the Bankruptcy Code.  She advises and counsels clients in all facets of bankruptcy including:

  • Negotiating with creditors resulting in assumption, rejection and/or modification of contracts and leases.
  • Resolving landlord disputes. 
  • Recovering monies and property through preference and fraudulent conveyance litigation. 
  • Litigating stay relief.
  • Litigating motions to appoint Trustees or to dismiss.
  • Defending preference litigation.
  • Obtaining injunctions against and other equitable relief. 
  • Enforcing and extending the automatic stay to non-debtors and principals of the debtor.
  • Sale of assets.
  • Claims analysis.
  • Liquidating assets.

In addition to her work in restructuring, reorganization and liquidation, Ms. Baglanzis also represents clients in a range of business litigation matters in state and federal courts, and arbitration proceedings.  She has experience with matters in an assortment of industries including construction, real estate, and computer franchise, among others.

Complementing her practice is Ms. Baglanzis’ pro bono bankruptcy services with the Military Assistance Project providing legal services to active duty, reserve, and veteran military personnel who are suffering from financial difficulties.  Ms. Baglanzis has also volunteered with Homeless Advocacy Center assisting homeless individuals so they can obtain housing and benefits, and become employable to support themselves and their families.

Ms. Baglanzis clerked in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware for the Visiting Judges in 2003-2004. 

Ms. Baglanzis has been named to the 2013 Pennsylvania Rising Stars list as seen in both Philadelphia magazine (June 2013 edition) and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers® magazine (June 2013 edition).  Rising Stars are chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Thomson Reuters, Legal as being among the top-up-and-coming lawyers in the Commonwealth.  Only 2.5 percent of Pennsylvania attorneys receive this honor each year.  Ms. Baglanzis previously received this honor in 2007, 2010, and 2012.

Angela L. Baglanzis is a member of the firm’s Creditor’s Rights, Bankruptcy and Financial Reorganization Department.  She is admitted to practice in the state of New York and commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern District of New York and Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
