Jeffrey B. Rotwitt is a partner with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. He is chairman of the Business and Finance Department, as well as chair of the firm’s Corporate and Real Estate Groups and a member of the Regulatory, Administrative and Gaming Department. He is also a member of the Management Committee. 

For over 30 years, Mr. Rotwitt has been practicing corporate and real estate law at Obermayer. He has extensive experience providing counsel to the nation’s largest corporations and regional firms, particularly in the areas of purchasing and sales, leasing, partnerships, residential and commercial real estate development, zoning permits and variances, negotiation of construction contracts and commercial leases, tax planning and related litigation. During this time, his practice has grown to include numerous nine-figure corporate and real estate transactions, loans and workouts.

Mr. Rotwitt received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Rotwitt also graduated from Penn’s School of Law, where he was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor. He serves as an adjunct professor at Penn’s School of Law teaching classes in entrepreneurship.

Through mega-commercial transactions and the forging of countless business partnerships and joint ventures, Mr. Rotwitt has become an integral, indispensable cornerstone of Philadelphia’s legal community. On three occasions, Philadelphia Magazine has recognized Mr. Rotwitt’s achievements in his practice. In December 1994 and March 1999, Philadelphia Magazine surveyed thousands of Philadelphia lawyers to find out to whom they would turn to for legal assistance. Mr. Rotwitt was selected both times as one of the elite lawyers in the city. In November 1997, Philadelphia Magazine selected Mr. Rotwitt as one of the 20 individuals who revitalized and shaped Center City Philadelphia, noting that he “has been the middleman for the buying, selling, leasing or mortgaging of 60 percent of the city’s buildings.”

In March 1998, the Philadelphia Bar Association selected Mr. Rotwitt as one of its “Significant 16” lawyers in Philadelphia who have achieved notable accomplishments or contributed to the betterment of the profession and/or the community through their achievements. In addition, Mr. Rotwitt has been selected as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” each time polling for this award has been conducted. The confidential polling of his peers at the Bar and in the Judiciary has resulted in his (i) being recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America and (ii) being awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating for ethical standards and legal ability.

Mr. Rotwitt is a frequent contributor to numerous publications and a presenter to several associations. He is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, holding positions in the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and Corporate Banking and Business Law sections of each association.
