 Lori M. Emrick is a senior associate with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP and a member of the firm’s litigation department. Ms. Emrick received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, magna cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She worked as a registered nurse at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital from 1990-1996. While practicing as a nurse, she attended Widener Law School, from which she was awarded her Juris Doctorate.
Ms. Emrick has devoted her entire legal career to defending health care professionals in medical malpractice claims. The majority of her clients are hospitals in Philadelphia and surrounding areas as well as nurses and doctors in various specialties. Her voluminous caseload primarily involves defending against catastrophic obstetric, orthopedic, pediatric, and cardiac claims. During her more than 14 years of experience, Ms. Emrick has handled all phases of litigation, from initial pleadings through trial.
Ms. Emrick has been named a Pennsylvania Rising Star by Law and Politics Magazine, as featured in Philadelphia Magazine. Rising Stars are chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers in the Commonwealth. Only 2.5 percent of Pennsylvania attorneys receive this honor each year.
Ms. Emrick is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Nurse Attorneys. Her honors in the field of nursing include membership in Sigma Theta Tau, the Nursing Honor Society, and Phi Delta Phi (Harrington Chapter). She is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
