Jerome N. Kline is of counsel in the Business and Finance Department at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. His practice areas are real estate, banking, real estate and corporate finance, financial institutions, corporate, business transactions and international law. His primary focus is in real estate development, real estate and corporate finance, and financial institutions.
Mr. Kline received his Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, his Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law, and his Master of Laws degree from George Washington University Law School.
He began his career in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was responsible for real property and environmental issues and government contract matters. He later served as general counsel to a major real estate development corporation where he was involved with all aspects of real estate development, land use planning and commercial and real estate finance.
Throughout his over 40 year legal career, Mr. Kline has had broad corporate and general commercial experience. He has concentrated his practice in real estate law, real estate transactions, banking and financial institutions, and corporate and real estate finance. He has represented real estate development companies, commercial banks, investment banks, pension advisory firms, pension funds, REITS, mortgage banks, private equity funds, and numerous other corporate and financial institutions.
Mr. Kline has extensive experience providing counsel in a significant number of commercial, corporate and financial transactions, including workout activities. He has concentrated on sophisticated and substantial real estate matters, including new town development, various real estate trust and planned unit development projects, as well as real estate acquisitions, sales, development and syndication. Mr. Kline has been involved in the negotiation, drafting and review of documents pertaining to leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, commercial mortgage backed securitizations, syndicated credits, corporate reorganizations and dissolutions. He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He has also been selected as one of Philadelphia’s best attorneys and has been named as one of Pennsylvania’s “Super Lawyers” by Philadelphia Magazine and Law and Politics Magazine, in its “Pennsylvania Super Lawyers" edition. Mr. Kline is listed in the Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition (May/June 2009), as recognized in state and regional editions of Super Lawyers magazine, in the real estate practice area.
Mr. Kline has lectured on real estate topics and has been a frequent guest on television and local radio talk programs. He has also been published on real estate and environmental topics in such publications as the Villanova Law Review, Natural Resources Lawyer, Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly and Focus Magazine. He has been active in numerous civic, community, charitable and cultural activities, including the arts. In addition, he is actively involved in activities pertaining to world affairs and U.S. foreign policy.
Mr. Kline is a member of various corporate, banking, business and real estate sections of the International, American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
