Stephen W.W. Ching Jr. is a partner with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and International Practice Group.
Mr. Ching specializes in civil and commercial litigation, international law, Chinese Joint Venture Law and Federal Election Law.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, and a Masters of Philosophy in International Law and Affairs from Cambridge University, where he received first honors with distinction. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law.
Mr. Ching was awarded a MacArthur Scholarship Grant to Beijing University School of Law, in conjunction with the George Soros Foundation, to write a dissertation on the development of Chinese law and a western legal system in China. He also attended Fudan University School of Law in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, where he conducted legal research into Chinese law, in coordination with the Columbia University School of Law Program of Chinese and International Law. He has also conducted legal research at the East China Normal University in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
Mr. Ching has served as legal counsel and advisor to the Chinese Benevolent Association. He is a member of the International Law and Litigation sections of the American Bar Association, as well as the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
Mr. Ching is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Third Circuit.
