Paul C. Heintz is a partner with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates Department.
Mr. Heintz has more than 30 years of experience in all areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, Orphans’ Court litigation, and fiduciary and tax law. He also has experience in aviation law, including aircraft accident litigation, FAA enforcement matters, aircraft lease, partnership and sales agreements, and the representation of airport owners. His other area of concentration is the representation of not-for-profit corporations, including a number of well-known charities in the Philadelphia area.
He is a member and past chairman of the 600-member Probate and Trust Law section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He frequently lectures on estate planning, estate and trust administration and professional ethics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
In 1996, he was awarded the “Distinguished Estate Planner Award“ by the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He is a former author of Remick’s Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court Practice, a former member of the Board of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and member of its National Board of Regents and a former Pennsylvania State Chair.
Mr. Heintz has served on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association (1989-91 and 1993-94), the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Bar Education Center (1990-94) and the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation (1993-94).
He served as chairman of the Aviation Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (1975-80) and as a member of its House of Delegates (1980-90). The aviation activities of Mr. Heintz, a licensed airline transport pilot and instrument flight instructor, include service as chairman of the boards of the 400,000 member Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Air Safety Foundation, and as a member of the Lawyers-Pilots Bar Association.
His activities in the community include membership on the boards of The Franklin Institute and The Philadelphia Foundation. He has also served as a Board member of the National Constitution Center and Committee of 70, president of the Lower Merion Board of School Directors, chairman of the Board of Trustees, American Cancer Society, Philadelphia Division and as a member of the Lower Merion Township Zoning Hearing Board.
Mr. Heintz received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College, Gambier, OH, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, Philadelphia. He is included in The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who's Who in America. He is also named as one of Pennsylvania’s “Super Lawyers®” as listed in both the Philadelphia magazine (2004-2010) and the Thomson Reuters, Legal magazine, “Pennsylvania Super Lawyers” 2004–2010 editions.
He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Third District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
