Walter M. Phillips, Jr. is Of Counsel with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department.
Mr. Phillips concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, commercial litigation and employment litigation.
Mr. Phillips was appointed by Governor Edward G. Rendell as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
Prior to private practice, Mr. Phillips served as Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office; Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, Chief of the Narcotics Unit, and Special Prosecutor/Deputy Attorney General for Police and Official Corruption in Philadelphia. Mr. Phillips’ past positions include: Member, Police Commissioner Search Committee; Member, Police Corruption Task Force, and Chairman, Philadelphia Board of Ethics.
He received his Bachelor of Economics degree from Princeton University and his Juris Doctor from University of California Hastings Law School.
Mr. Phillips is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court; the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; the Third, Second and First Circuit Courts of Appeal; and the U.S. Supreme Court.
